In partnership with the County of Orange and the Social Progress Imperative, we are creating the first ever Social Progress Index for Orange County.

The Social Progress Index is an innovative way to define the success of our community. This SPI measures the health and wellness of our community using 50+ social indicators across 12 different components. Some of the components we are measuring are elements that have not been traditionally captured. For example, we are cataloging environmental data, public safety data, measures of inclusiveness, among others. SPI is a well known, highly established institution with roots at Harvard, MIT, the World Economic Forum and the Rockefeller Foundation. They have done work for the United Nations and for the State of California. We are excited to partner with them as we help guide the county towards a discussion about social progress.

Covid-19 Vulnerability Index

Advance OC is honored to be working with Dr. Clayton Chau and his team at the OC Health Care Agency to investigate social determinants of health, in particular as it relates to COVID-19. We are using a COVID-19 Vulnerability Index that outlines specific risk factors contributing to COVID-19 infection, hospitalization and death. We will be overlaying actual COVID-19 cases in Orange County on top of this vulnerability index to determine key influencers or statistically significant drivers of outcome. Findings from this study will help explain health disparities as well as lay the groundwork for an in-depth look at other health issues, including obesity and diabetes. This kind of analysis will eventually allow us to conduct predictive modeling of health outcomes and provide unique insights into intervention techniques.

Advance OC is utilizing AI to unlock new innovations to solve our most complex and pressing issues, including machine learning models that identify hidden but pressing inequities. We believe that, together, we can harness the power of cutting-edge technology to advance humanity.
